Concord High School is located very close to the Olympic Site at Homebush Bay and established strong links with the Olympic activities associated with the games. Things moved so fast with the Olympics that it sometimes seemed a blur or like we were caught up in an Olympic dream whirl.
We were lucky enough to have many elite athletes for the launch which made this event a very special day.
On December 1st, Herb Elliot visited Concord High School to officially remind students to nominate as escort runners for the Olympic Torch Relay. The Olympic Torch was handed around for students to touch and hopefully recognise what an opportunity being an escort to the Olympic Torchbearers will be!
Some of our students addressed the distinguished guests and told of what the 2000 Olympics meant to them. They expressed the idea that even though they were too young to compete, at least they could get involved in some way to share the spirit.
