Student information
All Year 8 to 12 students are expected to bring their own Windows or Mac laptop to school. Chromebooks, tablets such as iPads and mobile phones are not suitable. Below are the minimum specifications.
Year 7 students can bring their own device from Term 4.
Wireless connectivity: 5GHz 802.11n support, which may be advertised as “Dual Band Wireless”, “802.11abgn”, “802.11agn, “802.11ac” or “Gigabit Wireless”.
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 or newer; Apple MacOS X 11 or newer
Software and apps:
Web browser such as Microsoft Edge, Chrome or Safari
All NSW public school students have access to Google Apps for Education and Microsoft Office 365, which includes software for word processing, spreadsheets and presentations. Students will be shown how to access these software applications at school by their teachers.
Devices running Windows and Mac operating systems have in-built antivirus software. Families may choose to install additional antivirus and malware software if they wish.
Some subjects, assessments and competitions may require students to install additional software and apps such as lockdown browsers. The coordinating teacher will support students to do this.
Students should NOT have VPNs installed on their devices.
